Shoe Shopping, etc.

it's the winter sale season again. i decided to make the most out of it today by buying some new shoes in preparation for a prospective major out-of-the-continent trip. excited much! :)

some basic nice and comfy bottines

hubby and i don't usually have the same taste in shoes and clothing.  it's a bit of a challenge to go shopping with him sometimes. he didn't really like the bottines that i got (above pic). for him, they look very basic lazy-cozy-comfy American style. but i bought them anyway because i like to annoy him (hee-hee) and like i said, they're super comfy.

these sneakers look really young and fresh

the shoes in the pic above are more his style -- youthful and fresh. but he forgets that i'm not really a teenager anymore, unlike him who still looks a bit like one. i still bought them anyway because i love the color and the design details. this item was not on sale though.

meanwhile, we both agree that these shoes are absolutely and unforgivably screaming-and-reeking-with-nastiness UGLY:

you know you're not in France anymore when you see shoes with crazy ugly prints like these in shops
these shoes are from one of the shops in San Sebastian, Spain, where we did a bit of shopping also during the Christmas season.

anyway, the sale season officially began Wednesday last week. we were out last Saturday at a nice restaurant called Le Genty Magre to celebrate mon chéri's birthday but decided not to do the shopping just yet because of the maddening crowd.

i did, however dropped by Yves Rocher to check out some really good deals for pasalubong when we finally visit the PI.

excellent lobster bisque (bisque de langoustine)
le boeuf fondant aux fines herbes
la gaufre (waffles with some vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate)
enjoying the sparkling Gaillac
i regret not having brought a real camera because the food were not just delicious, they were beautifully presented too. and i especially liked the wine pairing with each course.

frankly, i'm quite amazed at how i've managed to not become alcoholic over the year, despite being surrounded by all the good wine this country has to offer. and how i am still not obese despite having been pregnant, and having all this sumptuous food around. i guess it all comes down to not being a glutton.  and temperance is key.

enjoy the shopping season, folks.
