Monday Mood: Macarons and Mother's Day in France

Yesterday was Mother's Day in France. They call it, Fête des meres. I personally prefer having Mother's Day celebration on this date because it is in France that I became a mother.

My friends in France sent me these everything home-made pasalubong: Elderberry syrup, chocolate chip cookies and some paté

Being a mother is one of the toughest jobs I have ever experienced in my life, especially since I was a hands-on mom for three years. Those exclusive years with my daughter will always be special and memorable. It was during those times that I got to know myself more through the eyes of another human being.

At first, being a mom seemed like a role-play activity to me. But the routine and the habits slowly became part of me. There's no escaping the fact anymore that I will always be a mother now. It's something I cannot quit from or take a break from. It's kind of unnerving sometimes when you think about it. But I'd like to think that I am a better person because of it. And I'd always, always be grateful for this very, very special experience.
